Do you need a sugar detox so you can stop spiraling out of control? The average person consumes 22 tsp of sugar a day when the recommended intake is about 9 tsp per person.


Sugary diets leave you vulnerable - Every time you eat a sugar treat your immune system is compromised for at least 4 hours. Weight gain from sugar treats leads to type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.


Think Sugar when you see these ingredients: Glucose, Fructose, Dextrose, Galactose, Glucose, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Lactose, Maltose, Sucrose Main culprits are Granola Bars, Fruit Yogurt and even Chocolate Milk and "Healthy Cereals"


Do you crave sweets when you're bored or stressed?

Do you often wake up in the middle of the night?


If you answered yes to these questions here's a great detox plan that will help you curb those cravings.

  1. Pack on morning protein. It acts as a shield protecting you from sugar cravings. Some examples in the morning include Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, protein smoothies, or even your leftover chicken dinner.

  2. Hydrate. Most diseases can be avoided by increasing your water intake. Boosting water intake will also curb your sugar cravings.

  3. Dark Chocolate is a great way to blunt the desire to eat unhealthy treats as well as reduce insulin resistance. Dark chocolate is high in antioxidants and contains magnesium which fights depression and can lower blood pressure.

Avocado Truffles - Recipe "eating bird food"

Ingredients:

1/2 an avocado mashed

1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

cacao powder

sea salt Directions:

  1. Add avocado and a sprinkle of sea salt to a food processor

  2. Melt dark chocolate chips by placing them in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 30 seconds until the chocolate chips have melted.

  3. Pour melted dark chocolate into the food processor with the avocado and pulse until the mixture is combined.

  4. Place truffle mixture in the fridge for 30 minutes

  5. Make the truffles by rolling a tablespoon into 1-inch balls. Sprinkle with cacao powder and store in the fridge. Enjoy!
