Mindfulness Meditation is not just "the new tool" Its benefits are rooted in Eastern Tradition.

We now know the health benefits of deep breathing and mindfulness - Stats like:

A 63% decrease in depression A 58% reduction in anxiety A 40% reduction in perceived stress is common knowledge through various scientific studies on Mindfulness.

20 years ago however there wasn’t as much awareness - as I went through various adversities including loss of loved ones and miscarriages, I didn’t realize then how effective this technique would be to help me with grief stress and anxiety.

Having seen the benefits first hand I keep spreading the word as this has helped me relax and switch my nervous system from a sympathetic which is a state of STRESS into para-sympathetic a more RESTFUL state.

The Nervous System, known as the control center , is one of the most vital systems in the human body. Meditation activates the RESTFUL nervous system - it slows down heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, sweating, and calms down all your fight or flight functions

Breath work takes you out of a stressful state essentially giving you a 30 second pause before you react to any given situation - and trust me more than at work this has helped me in my personal relationships

if you don't enjoy a guided meditation that's fine, if you don't feel any better right after that's okay too. Schedule it in like you would any other important meeting. The benefits will come over time

I have been working with Ummul a certified Heart Math instructor for about 3 years now and the tools she uses have been instrumental in moving me into a state of gratitude and flow. Listen to her short guided mindfulness exercise below.

Mindfulness meditation is when you pay attention to your thoughts as they pass through your mind. You don't judge the thoughts or become involved with them. You simply observe and take note of any patterns.

This practice combines concentration with awareness. You may find it helpful to focus on your breath while you observe any bodily sensations, thoughts or feelings. Join us for Mindful Mondays. More information on our experiences at www.welltransformed.com/experiences
